APR Code of Ethics & Conduct This

Ethical
conduct is of great importance when conducting investigations,
especially because human participants are involved and individual’s
properties
are the setting. Alaska Paranormal Research offers assurances of
its strong ethical standards and presents the basic tenets of its ethics
and conduct below.
Our
members are honor-bound by these codes of ethics and agree to:

Abide by strict Codes of Conduct and investigation protocols.

Conduct themselves
with strict adherence to the laws of the State of Alaska and in
accordance with generally accepted practices.

Conduct themselves
with honesty, integrity and fairness with respect to the public,
clients and team members alike.
-
Not discriminate
based upon race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age,
sex, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation,
disability, social or economic status, education or any other
external appearance.

Be accessible and
accountable the client.
-
Make every
reasonable effort to act in the client’s best
interest.
-
Support the
ideas and goals of Alaska Paranormal Research and the paranormal
community in a constructive
and positive manner.
-
Guarantee a
friendly, professional, unobtrusive investigation to the highest
of standards.
-
Not conduct
investigations in any way which might cause the client to feel any
presence has been exacerbated.
-
Never leave an
investigation without closure or without continued support.
-
Always abide by the
wishes of venue owners and families and continue contact for as
long as the venues and families need after investigations.
-
Treat venues and
owners with respect at all times.
-
Act as a referral
agent to more appropriate services, individuals or groups, should
they request that information; or when a formal investigation is
inappropriate; or where families would prefer a spiritual
solution.
-
Respect the
privacy of our clients by honoring their request for
confidentiality with the utmost importance.
-
Protect those who
wish not to be exposed by media or any other demonstrations of
exploitation.
-
Operate with the
strictest discretion when necessary.
-
Generate positive
media coverage, if requested.
-
Never
sensationalize evidence or vie for attention.
-
Present venues with
a substantive report following any investigation and always share
results.
In
addition, our members also agree to abide by a code of conduct.
As a member of Alaska
Paranormal Research, each team member is expected to:

Abide by
the Code of Ethics.

Exhibit
professionalism whenever representing Alaska Paranormal Research.

Show
respect towards the client and their property at all times.
-
Be
compassionate and care for clients.
-
Keep the
relationship with clients professional, no matter how friendly it
becomes.
-
Be
open-minded and considerate of the feelings of the client.
-
Never
make a value judgment of the client based solely on race,
color, creed, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity,
marital status, sexual orientation, disability, social or economic
status, education or any other external appearance.
-
Not use
any profanity when speaking to or around a client.
-
Immediately
notify a team member if they feel unsafe performing a task.
-
Make all
other team members aware of any unsafe conditions at an
investigation.
-
End any
investigation at anytime. Especially if any
team member feels unsafe or uncomfortable. More importantly, the client has the right to halt any investigation at any
time and for any reason.
-
Not be
under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs or illegal drugs
during any Alaska Paranormal Research function.
-
Understand
illegal substances and related paraphernalia are never tolerated.
-
Be
respectful towards other team members.
-
Follow
all investigation techniques and procedures.
-
Use the
buddy system during investigations. A team member is
never to be left alone or out of eyesight.
-
Wear the
appropriate attire to all investigations and public functions.
Clothing will be clean, un-tattered and void of any profanity,
offensive imagery, religious and/or political messaging or any other
objectionable material. For safety reasons, shoes must have
flat soles, closed toes and must securely hold the foot.

Understand
if they conduct a personal investigation on their own, they are not
representing Alaska Paranormal Research and will not be allowed to
distribute business cards, to wear the uniform or to mention any
affiliation with the organization.
-
Avoid
gossip or discuss anything negative about other members, clients, or
other paranormal groups.
-
Not
discuss their own personal paranormal experiences with clients,
unless relevant and previously approved by Alaska Paranormal
Research.
-
Not
discuss paranormal experiences with other team members during an
investigation. Each team member's experience is important to
the investigation. Avoiding these discussions prevents
contamination of their testimony.
-
Explore
every possibility, natural and supernatural.
-
Make
conclusions only after evaluating the evidence gathered from the
completed investigation.
